    M'Ba River

Been at mooloolaba for the last 2 weeks. Waether was on and off and the wind was ever present making it tough without a leccy. Started off fishing mainly for bream and ended up with 4 from 33-36cm on gulp shrimps along with a heap of smaller ones. Fishing the trawlers one slow night when the brother made the call of trying poppers. We werent very hopeful but headed up the river anyhow. 3rd cast i nailed a 36cm bream on a big popper which was pretty unexpected. Ended up with 10 trevs and the breambo between the 2 of us. So much fun getting slammed with the popper and having to reef decent trevs out of pontoons with the 4lb bream gear. Got busted off twice unforauntely. hit them up again the next few nights with similar results. Fishing was a bit poor apart from that but whose complaining. The trevs were great. No pics Sorry.

Sounds like you did well despite the conditions. Have wanted to try that area at night for while. Did you try under either of the bridges where the Nicklin way crosses the river?

    mate

Sounds like a couple of good sessions. Were you throwing the poppers at fish you could see hitting bait on the surface?

Makes it hard without the leccie , hey how was the boat traffic on the river. Would have been pretty busy? should be better fishing when school hols are over

it sure is hard to beat popper fishing for excitement - nothing better than seeing a surface strike then hear the reel scream

Imnotoriginal - Didnt really have a big go at the bridges. Have in the past and had good success with livies on the trevs etc.
Captain - Nah mate there was a bit of scattered surface action, like a random splash every now and again, but it didnt look like we were gonna be getting hits on most casts.
Chief - Traffic was pretty chockers in the main parts of the river during the day, but its never particularly busy up the canals or after dark.
And yep nothing beats the popper fishing, often u cant even see ur lure properly and you would hear a splash and sort of be hoping it was ur lure, next bloop and then whammo.... awesome stuff.
