    Maccy Frustration

Hit the Bay this morning in search of a couple of Spotties. Worked the beacons up to Cowan then back South for zilch with biteoffs, gear failure lumpy conditions . Decided to head further south and came across a few schools of Mac Tuna and nailed a few for future bait.

While we were chasing the Tuna schools we noticed a few Macs swimming past the boat. As the day went on they became more numerous and we could have up to 1/2 dozen swimming around or disinterestedly following lure. We tried all sorts of stuff. Flat out TSS4 speed with slugs, jigging with Jackals. minnows. We tried all sorts of slugs and slices down to 10gm and dropped to our placky gear with light fluorocarbon leaders. Some small slugs on the light gear was hit wit some pretty spectacular bustoffs. We managed a few by the end of the day but the best was my brother Glen scoring a nice Spottie on a 2-4kg Dropshot and Penn Affinity 1000 reel. They certainly run on that sort of gear.

Definitely some Pillies onboard next time

Neil we had the same problem, when we found them they were big buggers and they would not take anything made of metal.
Was lucky we had pillies on board, and once we let a few of them loose with the odd gang attached we were in business, and they came from one of your favourite hunting grounds .

    regards

Well maybe not your metal Webby but Chief had to solid hookups and some big runs before pulling the hooks and getting bitten thru on the leader on another.
But you are right. They were bigguns!

    Hi Horse

Ditto to what Webby said! Didn't see you out there - It would have been good to have a chat - maybe next time!

I think the large size had something to do with the bite offs as they were taking the whole slug. Some big fish cruised by during the day.

Peter, we were a fair bit to the North of you up along Moreton. It was a toss up between Rainbow or Moreton and with the good weather we went north

    Cheers
