    Shimano SLX BFS

Bought a Shimano SLX BFS, not so much because i wanted to throw ultra light lures on a baitcaster but mainly to throw plastics on a 1/4 or 1/6oz TT jighead, first try with my 7ft2in Samaki i was throwing 45 meters with the 1/4oz TT, just what i wanted for throwing plastics for Flathead, nice reel and happy with the drag.

Interested to see how it goes and what your thoughts are after a few uses with the lighter weights, I've always stuck with spin reals over baitcasters for the light stuff.

There's some good reviews on it, so sounds like you could be onto a winner

Steve Starling has been doing some YouTube clips on the ultra light baitcasting I’ve had the old abu1500c and Daiwa alphas103 for light lure casting the Abu I’ve got on a old silstar 5”10 2-3 kg and toss the little 4 gram attack lures for bass and bream and flathead.

Starlo was useing the SLX and just had to find a rod the suit the reel and line the newer shimano should cast well the old abu I had to tune the bearing too get more distance.

Ive caught about half a dozen fish on it now, as i said not really interested in throwing much lighter than 1/6oz , but im sure it would do it fine, using it is great when you cast you dont get that hum like you do with other baitcasters, 45 meters with a 1/4oz is more than enough for me, like any baitcaster its when you try and go that extra 10 meters that you come undone, the reel is on a Samaki Zing Extreme 7 ft SZX 701BM, great rod for what i do, hate using the shorter baitcasting rods.
