Thanks...I initially dismissed it because of the finance thing but after reading your and corry's advice looked into a bit further and hopefully it will work out for the best and it does give more bargaining power when someone is between a rock and a hard place...

You're nearly there... one thing I didn't mention was the timing gear on the motors of various manufacturers. belts opposed to chains.

Well I just placed an order for a BYD Shark 6. Time will tell if it's a good decision or not. The novated lease deal was too good to pass up on PHEV vehicles.
I'm sure it'll tow my Quintrex 510 just fine and will also be a good beach camper. The V2L capacity is an added bonus for us here in NQ where power outages can occur.

seriously by the time you did some necessary upgrades (suspension / tyres / wheels etc . you are looking at nearly $100K for a top spec ute

    That's insane

I bought a new D-max..SX dual cab.....upgraded suspension all round ( 450K constant ) , 10 ply Tyres and mags, window tint, towbar, brake controller, 142ltr fuel tank, Diesel watch filter, bullbar, UHF, front lights, rear lights, alloy tray and canopy ( decked out ) , full 12v solar, rear Ando plug, roof racks, trundle drawer, under tray tool boxes and so much more...... think I hit 70k. ( I'll do the sums later ) ... some of this was DIY of course. With the latest remap and valve body done, that is another 3.5K. I believe you can get a kick ass offroad / tourer / tow vehicle for 80k..NEW ...... but these are the mid sized 4 x 4's...with 3.5 ton tow capability ... up the anti to 79's, Cruisers and Pootrols........... sky is the limit... don't even mention Ram' and F-Trucks

Yup ...Timing chain on this one....I'll do a bit of reading up on it as I havent had one before...just trying to strip the redarc brake controller from the previous vehicle and fit it to this one but the old back has been playing up a bit and being underneath vehicles and dashs is hard going ATM ..I'll get there but geez I hate wiring (and generally being under cars)..

I also saw you mentioned you set your idrive thingy on auto..?..is that the go..?..i have never had one before .
