    Post Townsville/Ingham fishing mates

    G'day Lads

Just thought I'd throw a post up. Only moved back to the area after a fair chunk of time away down south. I have a boat I been running up the creeks and dams chasing barra in. However find myself wanting to meet new people and make new friends and explore what the reef side of things has to offer. If there is anyone around Townsville/Ingham that heads out regularly and have a spare seat please reach out and hit me up. Would love to pay my way and experience the blue water stuff.

    Cheers

I'd recommend getting on to some of the fakebook pages and looking at some of the clubs. Townsville has a huge fishing community. There are a lot of clubs in the area, and they cover a lot of area up to Hinchinbrook.
Also, if you're not already, listen to the NQ Fishing Show on a Saturday morning, some good info there. They're on 4K1G, 3 hours of pleasurable listening time, they do a podcast of it after the show finishes too. I listen to the podcast when I'm flying to work on Monday's as I'm in Cairns and rarely get to listen live.

    Thanks mate

I do listen to that podcast. More so looking for a crew to head out with as I have no means of heading out on my own.

    Cheers

I'd suggest that's where a club might be able to help. I know the Yorkey's Knob fishing club in Cairns has a number of people that aren't boat owners and they 'team' up with others in the club for trips. We're not members, but have looked into it as we've often been to the Boating Club for lunch and they have presentations and functions on and and they're all having a ball. Townsville will have a number of clubs similar to this.

To be candid though, you might find it hard outside a club to get someone to offer to take you out, if they're anything like me at least. I'm not one who would offer to take someone out that I don't know, it makes it a long and uncomfortable day if you have people on a boat that aren't 'compatible' as such.
I'd normally only invite someone if I've been able to spend time with them previously and we 'get on', and I can suss them out to how they will behave. There's a lot of money wrapped up in boats and gear, and prepping for even going out, hence I do most of my fishing on my own. I don't want someone who isn't going to care about hitting the boat or the outboard with sinkers, dropping rods on the floor, or generally not giving a sh!t, but maybe it's me... sometimes I just don't like people and that's my 'quiet' time
    Cheers
