    Paradise Point 19/6

Spent about 2 hours from mid morning fishing landbased from a spot on the Coomera River. Quite a few small whiting and bream. Best bream was 27cm.

There was a strong current pushing the bait back in towards the rock wall. The moving bait seemed to attract bites. Would I have been better off with a larger sinker that held the bait where I cast it?

    Thanks

The lighter the better. More natural presentation. Might just mean casting more.

I agree although sometimes it's what bait you use. The bigger fish will be found at night.
I went out Wed just to sink some baits for them as I just needed some time out and was happy to veg out. At one stage I could only catch fish on strip's of pillie or peeled prawn, unpeeled just didn't work as well. Strip's of mullet which often got them in the past wasn't a favourite. They stopped biting and only whitebait would entice them, hardy heads not at all. I didn't have yabbies as it was a spur of the moment trip but I found during the day they encouraged smaller fish although I recall a trip where they were totally ignored. Fish are funny creatures, perseverance and observation is the key.
