So they caught 2 crocs in the old marina area at Port Hinchinbrook, one which they beleive was the agrressive dog snatcher...

Interesting what you say about the 1200 number In the NT...i dunno how they come up with that but this is just how governments seem to work..

The main criteria for removal, though, is those crocs which have moved into areas where humans also live...i dont think anyone has a problem with crocs fully populating all the remote and low human population areas ..
Its just we cant have aggressive 2.5m and larger crocs living in the drains within the Cairns city limits for instance or taking peoples dogs off beachs or river mouth areas within the Northern beachs suburbs of Cairns..or in the case of the NT around the actual city of Darwin

To me its just common sense..its not going to neccessarily make those place places swimmable or even safe but surely we have to make an effort to remove known threats to peoples everyday life..

Fair dinkum how long do you think they would last in the Brisbane river or taking teenagers off the beaches of Bribie island..

So Katter has presented his QLD safari plan to parliament ..

I personally think there will be too much opposition to it...with so many people just against it in principal without even trying to understand it...

Poor bugga thought he was safe fishing from a high bank but apparently slipped or fell down the bank and then was snatched by a large croc...

The missus and kids must be in total shock..

Only fairly young too. I've been in a similar situation up at Kalpower, there used to be a big croc that hung around west of the crossing in a very fishy area. We'd cast from a big tree that went out almost horizontal well above the water level but on one trip a slip and only a quick grab by a mate stopped me going in. Never knew I owned Brown underwear. Stopped doing it after that.
One of the sad signs of our times is that we have demonized those who produce, subsidized those who refuse to produce and canonized those who complain.

I did a couple of days at Kalpower crossing in a boat and caught heaps of Barra out of the sticks
A bad days fishing has got to be better than any day at work......

Apparently everyone has been feeding the crocs where that guy got taken so its just been sitting there wait for something to fall in, apparently its illegal to feed such beasts so we will see if the 5mt croc that was shot has the guy inside of him.

We camped up at Annan two weeks ago on our way to Starke, fished this area a bit, always see Crocs but never had one come anywhere near us. It's not the area where you can easily run around in a tinny either, very shallow up near the boat ramp.
Would have to be your worst nightmare watching someone get taken, and nothing you can do about it.
    Cheers

So its nice to hear the true story from a family member thats also a journo....

gee facebook and social media brings out all the total nutters who just just cant help themselves and think their ignorant opinions are actually of importance to anyone else but themselves...where do they all come from...?

Anyway its been horrible rains and flooding up this way since mid december and lots of creek and river have been massively eroded , undercut, sandbars and new channels formed all over the place...this poor bloke just had the bank crumble out from under him and anyone that knows these FNQ rivers knows that a steep muddy bank can be tricky to get up....

Here is the brother inlaws version anyway...sounds like it could have happened to anyone...
