Also it’s a post about someone showing off something they are proud to own

Start a post showing off your new egrell and informing people about them as I’ve never see one

    that’s how the internet works
not pulling up your knickers after pissing over everything then running off because your afraid of a robust discussion calling your post out as biased against a brand
It’s no secret they are made in china.

you do know 99 percent of rods in a shop are made overseas in an Asian factory ?
And even if made here 99 percent of those components are made in the same Asian factory’s

some people are willing to wait 6 months to a year for an Aussie builder to make a rod, many don’t and just use them as the tools they are and just buy what’s available locally to them

No, not compared to a high quality setup, but then, does a $1,000 outfit feel so much better than a $2,000 outfit? Not too sure! Fishing (in my opinion) is a confidence thing, you use lures, line, bait that you think will give you the maximum chance of catching your target species, whether a high price or brand name gives you that confidence is personal choice (and can be budget choice too) all sports "toys" consume time and money, how much is determined personally by disposable cash, how serious you are about a particular almost single purpose item and how much more confidence will it give you.
no one here gets to fish as much as they want too so buying gear accessorising modding the boat are all just part of the hobby is how I see it.
$5-600 for mid spec reel and $5-600 for a rod seems pretty common from all the brands

and as you say there are plenty of budget combos that will do the job, maybe not $29 Kmart combos for any length of time.
but spent $150 at a tackle shop and will get something that will cope with a few fish

I got a penny squidder new in box from the 70s for $50 last week
I’m going to replace the internals of my grandfathers reel that he used to catch massive kings and Hapuka in nz on gut line
fish my more expensive gear have never seen

It would be an exceptional 20lb lure outfit - for targeting fish in the snags or casting topwater around lillies for barra .

I could see myself taking this to a barra dam ....... the trouble is I'd need to buy another Exist Maybe next year when I head to Kinchant in Oct

If I designed that rod I would have a 3 inch tapered Eva grip behind the reel seat so that collar on the back of the reel seat would not dig or rub into your palm when casting or fighting and had a smaller butt Eva but that’s just me and why I would not buy one because of how I would cast and fish that rod a small but simple fix in design .

It all depends on how you cast a rod - This rod for me is a double handed one & so it's no issue

    personal preferences for sure

    Thanks for that Steve

The point of this thread was to give everyone the heads up about a new release rod - that has a unique taper & would be something that Jack fishoes might be interested in .
It's not a look at me thread not about name dropping . I 've owned Miller rods way back in the day when he was building for Complete Angler in Sydney & then a few of his short stroker game rods when he was at Harbord Tackle way back in the 1980s . I respect what the guy does .
With regards to his Miller design rods - these are production rods that are built at a price point in China but to his standards ....... A bloke with his reputation wouldn't market these if they weren't ........ Go to any fishing tournament & see how many angers are using them . (bream , bass , barra , & yellowbelly )

As for being overpriced ....... go have a look at what a shimano T curve premium costs ($400) E6X Loomis ($420+) Wilson venom ($580) Samurai Reaction ($530) - now let me tell you that I paid well under any of these ....... & none of these manufacturers have any rod similar .

Nagg when I fight fish I like to have the rear of the butt tucked under my arm. I played with one of these rods in the shop and felt the rear of the butt was just a tad short to fish like that. Apart from that it was a very nice feeling rod

There wouldn't be too many sub 7 foot spin rods that you could -

    Ultimately it's still only a 1 1/2 grip rod

Much more than I could exert single handed & had to bury the rod in my hip to apply full pressure . The rod has a really nice parabolic curve under load with the mid section doing the work . It certainly will have some stopping power . I'm certainly convinced that this would make a great Jack rod & I reckon good for soft vibes on Jew & Threadies .

how light do you think the rod would be useful for with respect to lure weight/size. Could you be flicking right down into the top, water Whiting range with this rod?

I seriously doubt that it would throw lures that light (3-5 grams) - but it was throwing 9 grams (without hooks) quite well . So that's thereabouts the weight of a Bassday Sugar pen 95 . For the record , The rod is rated for 15-40 grams . .

You certainly wouldn't by this rod for finnese presentations
