Just been browsing the boating regulations for QLD and Epirb is a must pass partially smooth and the is says Should carry and that's flares anchor, etc and then under that it says this.

Equipment Smooth waters Partially smooth waters Beyond partially smooth waters Must carry the following equipment EPIRB or PLB* ✔# Signalling device if operating at between sunset and sunrise (e.g. torch, lantern, glow stick) ✔ ✔ ✔
You have to register your Epirb something dose not add up .

Any boat that don’t need registering should not be out that far to need a epirb one would think.
No rego in NT for boats. You need to look at the whole picture. QLD regs is only quoting AMSA rules.

To be honest, I don't know but I imagine that would be the case. There might be a transition period as for vehicles before needing re-registering in this state. In years past many a tinnie would venture past Mooloolaba entrance for a fish and often sailing events as well, and those little sabots are unregistered do not sure how they apply the rules. For Queensland, it looks that way. See the link below - "Recreational boats with valid interstate or overseas registration can operate in Queensland ... while on interstate voyages if the boat has current registration from another state or territory."

That's just the website and you'd have to check the regs to be sure, but looks like NT boats - not having a valid interstate registration - would not be permitted to be used in Qld.
