Thread: Portable fuel tank vent

    Portable fuel tank vent

Has anyone safely been able to create a fuel vent hose type setup for portable plastic tank, what were using now has the usual vent on filler cap, but cause it’s in an enclosed area I want to vent it to atmosphere.

Some tanks have a second outlet that could be used, if yours doesn't, then you will need to invent some kind of hose that attaches to the cap with the vent and run it to the desired location, it shouldn't be too difficult to sort out.

If it us for carrying spare fuel a fuel bladder doesn't need a vent.

If you can get a spare cap it wouldn't be too hard to tap a thread into it to take a hose tail if you can't get one to suit the existing vent thread.

Yep, that's more or less what I was thinking, just a bit of "inventing"

    Thanks for your replies,
    “Inventing”, that’s very witty!
Ok, so I’ll get hold of a spare fuel cap and see if I can break it or tap a female air fitting into it and run a hose to a vent, just gotta make sure the fittings are fuel proof.
Will let you know how it goes.

You could also try a fuel cap breather vent line off a dirt bike and then tap that. They quite often use an allow one-way valve

Yeah, it's pretty easy, but, most times the pictures will be upside down.
