    replacing radios

Im having some wrk done on the tub and figured I might upgrade the music system and vhf radio. Music currently comes in via the sonic hub 2 and the simrad. Pain in the ass to operate when rocking about.

Not looking to spend money for the sake if it but middle of the road stuff Im generally happy with.
There are a number of brands in this space.
What pros and cons can you share with me about the VHF radios you have and similarly whats the good and bad news on some of the music systems.

    Re: replacing radios

Re VHF radios, there are now 'black box' versions such as the GME GX750 and Icom IC-M400BB.

These have a microphone cable plug on the dash and the radio black box is elsewhere eg out of sight eg under the dash. Frees up space if your dash is a bit busy. The microphone has the buttons, speaker and a small screen on it.

Lack of DSC is the biggest downfall for the GME. Don’t understand why the left that out in their top tier VHF
