The gyro's look like a good thing. Just make sure the case is solid. Have heard of one (different brand) with a bearing failure - those on board thought the thing was going to come shooting out of the hull with the racket it made. The case, to it's credit , did however do it's job and kept the wildly spinning Tazzie devil contained.
yeah ive heard similar. its a bit handy designing the boat around it. its going to be sitting on 13mm alluminium plate across the stringers/ribs smack in the centre of the boat. the same plate has the batteries bolted down to it. to give the boat one solid centre of gravity mass. getting it will be easy.... getting out would be interesting
Well bit of a change
We have opted to go to 2.8m beam up from 2.5
So yes this does make it over width. however being that this boat will be trailered about 6x a year and from melbourne to South coast NSW each time. The need for a few extra flags and some restrictions is a cost well worth paying for extra room, stability etc from that bonus 300mm .
100mm is going into the cabin to give it some extra room inside. this also makes the walk ways around the side of the boat 210mm wide which is not quite as much as a walk around but not far off. then the cockpit gaines a ful l300m extra beam. allowing us to build in some extra steps to the side deck on the sides. and have a slightly larger live well and tackle draws
we are also looking at chaning the rear cockpit bench hob for a folding seat .

Some further progress designs with the new 2.8 wide body version.
Slightly wider cabin (100mm) and then the rest in the walk around side decks.

wider transom lockers "the gap we kept the same between the transom lockers"
slightly more spacing between the engines and more access either side for aft boarding.
the forward cabin area has also undergone a slight redesign with the extra interior volume
we have kept the one single berth forward and one single berth aft. allowing for better use of space and to give us extra room below the helm for an additional electronics cabinet
we have also moved the dinnette seat forward to give us a 2.1m long single/ish berth on the dinnette..
Giving this boat, with no infills. and complete privacy three generious sized single berths. so three mates can all sleep onboard with room and still all have access to the private head forward without disturbing anyone.
this was a big feature point we wanted to include in a boat that does have long range fishing potential.
Note the MASSIVE 400AH Mastervolt lithium house battery. the equiverlant power supply of 8x100AH AGM batteries.
We also now have the rod storage lockers beneath both beds for storage of 12 fully rigged rods.. safely and securly.
an additional 6 rod tubes are also installed in the port berth bulkhead for any additional rods that may be bought inside.
Bump it out to 3.45m then....same restrictions apply.

As much as i would love to have actual teak flooring on this boat.. weight is the big factor. "and cost "
thankfully seadeck has released a woodgrain lazer pattern to its flooring giving a very natrual look to its product. its a very cool compromise
So we are a bit further along in the 2.8beam redesign and very much getting to the pointy end before we start cutting material

So we are going to run a sentinal thermal camera from Iris technologies instead of FLIR series camera, as such we have also opted to not run a radar, we have a height restriction we have to adhear too in the home drystack. and the client found he seldom used his radar on his previous boat.
