    Offshore Mooloolaba 90-140m 22 Jan 2021

Took the boys for a fishing trip yesterday 40km offshore Mooloolaba - did a 120km round trip fishing Caloundra wide up to The Banks
Fished 95m to 140m deep - current was pretty strong but boat electric motor managed it okay.
Yes we also use electric reels at that depth and they worked fine with 8oz, 16oz and 25oz sinkers
Used pilchards, mullet and squid and pillies and squid were popular.
Day was pretty kind as it just got better as the day went on.
Fish were a struggle for first spot in 140m with a solid current but that was where I got my snapper (70cm) so no complaints from me - the boys got their fish shallower in 95m and I finished the day with a nice pearlie (60cm) in 130m against the current - biggest cod 5kg.
Got about a dozen keepers and probably threw back 3 to 4 times that amount they all appeared to survive

Trip home was pretty good with no wind or sea to contend with.
The motor is going great now - so it was mainly a fuel issue but I believe idle switch did also die in amongst issues and was repalced - fuel bowl looks good and no red tinge to fuel and no little black things in the fuel either
    A good day out for allAttachment 123107Attachment 123111Attachment 123112Attachment 123113Attachment 123114Attachment 123115

Great report, nice Comet Cod, they're good chewing.
Thought about going out myself but when trimmed the motor up it struggled and the battery (new) voltage dropped to 9.5V. Bugger. New trim/tilt motor going in next week.
