    Any know this reel ?

    Hello all
Well the birthday is coming up so I thought I’d put a wish list together for a new over head bottom basher (Or good 2nd one)
Now I came across a couple but unfortunately there isn’t a lot of info on the net about the ones I’ve stumbled across so I thought I would throw it out here

1st : any one know of the Kiwi made Catch jigging reels?

2nd a reel from a company called Angler reel type - Grand Slam jig

    Any info would be great

I was looking at a new Diawa saltiga 35 2 speed new one or something like

I need the big drag stopping power 12 kgs and up at least 👍

Why are you looking at obscure brands These would be generic reels made in Asia where some (Catch) Kiwi has shoved their tag on them .

There are plenty of reputable jigging reel manufactures out there ( eg jigging master) , …… my suggestion would be stick with known ones - do some research

    Settle man…..

My point was why are you looking at obscure brands ? .

I mentioned "Jigging Master" because they do make reels that will meet your specification + Are highly regarded specialist reels ……
As I don't know your budget - I didn't mention reels like "Studio Ocean"

    Hey but that's cool

I must say I agree, take a deep breath and start again, people are trying to help! first off, most of those cheap no name reels will be eBay specials and most last a few trips at best, buy a brand name, preferably from a tackle store.

    Hello all
    Well hello back

Well the birthday is coming up so I thought I’d put a wish list together for a new over head bottom basher (Or good 2nd one)

Yes you are correct ... there isn't a lot of information out there on these reels

1st : any one know of the Kiwi made Catch jigging reels?
Yes - For a matter of fact I do know of these reels

2nd a reel from a company called Angler reel type - Grand Slam jig
No , I am not familiar with these reels

    Any info would be great
OK - The Catch reels and other tackle from Catch are generic sourced out of China that is being sold primarily in the NZ market - Just look on Ali Express and you can find lots of examples

I was looking at a new Diawa saltiga 35 2 speed new one or something like
Glad to see that you were looking at a reputable manufacturer like Daiwa - These would be a good choice & the better option against an unknown brand like Angler Grand Slam or Catch

I need the big drag stopping power 12 kgs and up at least 👍
Well Daiwa will have you covered there as will Shimano , Avet .... if you really wanted to go serious - then Jigging master & Studio Ocean would be right up there with the best ..... sadly I dont know what your budget is

Best of luck though - & please let us all know what you do find out about those Angler Grand Slams

Re: Any know this reel ?

Mick.j I'm having trouble tracking the history of either of the reels you mentioned and identifying their source. Over the waters on this side of the ocean we do have Sure Catch, is that related to your Catch brand I wonder. Angler from memory is Jarvis Walker but my memory is failing these days so could be wrong. I would look at some of the more common brands mentioned myself as parts are easier to obtain, upgrade of washers and bearings easier to do as well as servicing. I've gone down the path of upgrading both these parts on my reels and it helps to have good known brands. Good luck in your search and have a happy birthday.

    Chill pill man,
guys who have answered your question are seasoned legitimate quality people who’s advice I’ve taken on board in the past who tend to know their shit. Why ask if you only want to hear what you want to hear and then crack the shits because it’s not what you want to hear?
It’s not Facebook man. It’s a forum where people are trying to help others who are wanting advice.

Re: Any know this reel ?

There is next to no information or reviews for the brands in question, and no mention of them on any of the kiwi fishing forums that I found so this alone would lead me to believe that they are possibly a rebranded generic reel
