The Friday is looking OK with about 15knts but the Saturday looks to be over 20 on a lot of the sites. It gets very lumpy up that way in 20knts NW with nowhere to hide

We would be heading home Sunday anyway. Its the Friday sat I'm concerned with. BOM is showing 15-20 at 4.00am for Roonies. That's not good for an overnighter

I will be on my way back on Saturday arvo so not worried about Sunday,
if it stays like this may still give the bay a go and look for fish on the Fly rod.

Hey Jeff, Good luck, keep me/us in mine for the current 2 mile, 4mile and 13 mile crossings and the other info we discussed please, if you go over near the spit, keep your eyes peeled for the partially submerged 8mt cat with twin 250hp skegs sticking up to the sky...hull white and black, no roof as it was smashed off and floating separately, hope no one hits it, last seen just south of 4mile crossing on western side of the bar. Not sure if MSQ are going to attempt search and recovery,,, vmr currently on their way now to tow another upturned vessel from the cape... Be carefull all, and please wear your bloody life jackets when crossing the spit! Kev.

    Re: Breaksea Spit ( Hervey Bay ) M & G. November 2014

Fishing action wise it was all down the bottom of the spit this year if you go outside. Inside is fishing just as good, if not better some days. Not super amounts of bait off the 4mile crossing but that is where the most marlin came from. Bit of bait right in close in 8-9m. Fish off it in up to 18m. Straight off the 0mile crossing was the mother load of bait. Not like the 13mile from the last two years, but goodish. Not as many marlin there but shouldn't be too long before they find it. Heaps of flippers and birds on it. Could have been a moon thing too on the weekend. If you think you can take on the NWer in the bay, duck out the spit and fish down the front of the island for protection. Not much vermin. Few spanish around. Not many hoo. Mostly billies and the odd mack tuna. Couple of longtails up to 17kg as well. We had one wahoo chopoff was it.

The general consensus is that the weather is going to blow up by Friday night so most boats are heading up on the Wed night now and will be returning on Friday afternoon. I have work commitments on Thursday so won't be along for the ride
