    Ord by Chopper

As a part of my job I had to put up with an aerial survey run down the Ord on Monday for about 40ks. The job on the day was a weed survey. Took the jet ranger so had room for two others to do the counting while I did the photoing

The river varies in width from the race at Tararra Bar to the wider sections either side, the two crocs were the biggest of 100 plus we saw on the day one was about 4 metres the other would have gone 5 metres.

A couple of nice rock bars along the way and the Kununurra Diversion Dam with Lake Kununurra in the background.

PS the 'Shack' is part of the set for the movie 'Australia' they shot over here last year.

No the 'shack is just a big prop they built, the only real solid bit is the tracks inside for the cameras to roll on. The sheds out the back are tied to concrete soas they don't blow away. I think they haven't finished filming yet that's why its still standing.

All of that part of the river is accessible by boat, plenty of bush boat ramps along the bank, although the run right the way down can only be done in flood conditions.

    Wicked fotoz Dick!
I got about 20 mins heli time that was charged to a dept such as yours!!
(I think they were burning noxious stuff with firebombs?)
Anyway, got to see some area's from the air that you wouldn't deliberately fly to or over, or even think of going to on foot ...
    Great pictures.

Mostly just woody weeds, found moringa, neem, parkinsonia, noogoora burr and leucaena. Nothing we didn't know was down there just the distribution was a little vague until now.

I work for a landcare group (just in case anyone things I got a plush govvy job)
