Catching Mullet?

Guys, what would be your advice on picking a suitable spot for catching mullet in a cast net / on a line in somewhere like the middle reaches of the Brisbane River - do you pick a creek mouth and berley? any guidance appreciated.

G'day!

Get a small size herring jig and cut the flashers off each of the 6 hooks. Tie this to your mainline and fix a red and white spherical plastic float to the swivel. Squeeze very small pieces of white, homebrand sandwich bread around the hooks. Just enough to cover each entire hook.

Squeeze a couple of slices into a ball and mangle it a bit. Throw this out as berley. Fish the rig as close to the berley as possible. Strike when the float is pulled well under.

Good tip, I would never have thought of using the bait jig for them, small hooks for small mouths, sounds good, I'll give it a go myself. Just need to find a few mullet in the area where salt and fresh water divide down Pimpama way. Cheers, Peter
