View Full Version : AWOONGA ADVENTURE!!!!

;D Had a ripper of a trip to awoonga dam this week. Only two fish landed - BARRA! - 45cm, and 70cm. Both within half an hour of each other, on Gold Bombers. The weather was very hot and sultry, and we had a storm the night before. Most people were landing the odd barra, and a great atmosphere was to be had in the caravan park. Had a few other hook-ups, lost a gold bomber to a monster. Heavier gear next time for sure (gotta be more than 20lb).Quite a few red claw around as well, all good sized. Will definitely return to this spot!!!

Sounds like you had fun.

If I could be so bold, which general area did you get the fish from - the big weed bed out the front or one of the arms??

:) Barra cove - just around the corner from the boat ramp. We kept trying again, but we couldn't pull anymore out of the same spot!

Ah good on ya K. Can't wait to get up there myself. You didn't meet a guy up there called Andrew witha 91cm barra did you?? :)

;) Sure did Luke, he was camped next to us - has a tattoo of a bass on his guts, right? We all got along great and fished and pi$$ed on together - had a ball!

Thats the fella. One of my cousins mates-mad keen to get that tattooed on his guts hey? Bet he was stoked with his Barra.

Well done.

Heading up on January 13th actually staying at Turkey Beach but making a couple of journey's across to Awoonga, hope I do half as well ( 1 will do ) it'll be one more than I've caught so far.
