Hi Guys

Just returned from borroloola in the NT great weather and great fishing. We fished the rivers and around the islands and the fishing was the best it has been.We had some great days casting lures at barra feeding in only 2ft water they were everywere mixed in with the barra were those annoying queenies. The barra caught on lures were 50-80cm but live baiting produced bigger fish. Our mate nailed a 99cm barra only to be beaten by a 113cm beast by a guy at the fishing club I think it weighed 11.7kg cleaned. The rivers were on fire with huge blue nose salmon, threadies, fingermark keeping us busy.Jacks were a bit quiet with a couple on lures but not as prolific as the barra and salmon(whose complaining). We fished the islands with some good catches of trout ,red emporer ,nannygai, sweetlip, cod, big fingermark and those annoying queenies. The schools of queefish were amazing they attacked every bait that was dropped and also tried sinkers, hooks and whatever fish that was on its way to the boat.We caught lemon sharks and a big grouper that smiled for the camera before being released. The other good news is that from the 1st of july this year the river will be closed to netting.apparently it was closed for some time last year but the change of government reopened it but will be closed for good after june 30th.Even after the small time it was closed last year the barra fishing was 10 times better so the future of barra at borroloola looks very promising

Cheers
