G'day all.
Got a call from an 'over refreshed' Max Slater (dad) from the Wilderness Lodge near the Mary River (NT) the other night.
He'd just landed his biggest barra at 120cm and 45 lb (about 20kg?) and was having a few well deserved celebratory bourbons.
Six casts before, he also landed a good fish of 13kg! So a god day out!
Both fish were caught on the 7 inch gold bomber and taken further along the coast than the Mary River in another system.

He noted that pro netters had been through the day before and wiped out the salmon population that frequent the mouth of the Mary.
Also, that not many people were getting barra in the Mary itself.
It takes him approx 1 hour to get to the mouth of the Mary (about 38 km) then another hour (conditions permitting) to travel the coast to the other river system (he doesn't know what river it is - not Tommycut).

Also, his wife Lynlea went for her first trip and managed to nab a barra of 60 or so cm so she was pretty pumped too!

Cheers, Slates
