Went landbased this morning off the breakwalls near the casino. Using light gear, (kid's scooby doo rod) we played around for about an hour with some hairtail (80-90cm) talk about fun.

G'day paul. Those hairtail do pull on light line don't they. You keep any for bait? Great mackie baits! Might head down to Palaranda beach for a bit of fun today. Don't know yet. You know of any decent landbased areas around here?

Yeh, got two rigged up in the freezer along with a wolfie. Bit worried about my thumb at the moment considering what happened to touchy (see post earlier this year re: fish spike). When adjusting the hook in the head of the fish it slipped as soon as there was no resistance and whammo straight under the first knuckle between the thumb and the hand. :P :'( Gave it a good clean up but its getting a bit sore now. See how it is in the morning and I'll get one of the docs at work to look at it if it's not good. Can't take chances with these small entry wounds especially once they've closed over and because its in a joint.

yeah mate, spikes in joints not good news. Followed the post RE touchy with the spike. Where you work mate?
