A few good bream biting this morning off the beach in Iluka :)
Got one 1.02kg on a prawn and released two that were keepers. No bites for an hour and as i was about to give up Wham!
Felt like a ray at first but after a 30 seconds of solid pulling and a few head shakes struggled to keep from being landed I see this dorsel fin :D came in at 1.267kg 46cm caught three more after that within 30 minutes all around the 1kg mark.
Had a one hookup that busted my trace....
Tried for twenty more minutes and called it a morning.
Day befor got a tarwhine that was just short of 1 kg. biggest tarwhine I have seen and certainly the bream set the record for me.
Cheers Gerard

Chong has been talking to me about doing a trip down there. If that is what is on offer,,,, I think we need to start planning. Great catch. The biggest I have caught went just under 40cm, and I thought that was big.

Nice fish! Where did they come from? When I go down there on my yearly pilgramage (in July most years) I usually fish the washes in the front of the Iluka bluff just after dawn for quality bream and usually do quite well, although I haven't caught one that big down there yet. This year I got some nice ones (and was busted off a couple of times) just after dark fishing from the northern wall about 200m from the beach. The better fish were obtained by fishing the northern side rather than the river side.

Thanks for all the thumbs up ;)
as far as location of where these bruiser are being caught the next day i went back to the same spot similar time of tide etc and got one about 30cm nothing else happening. It varies from day to day, baits and so on. Sometimes off the wall inside is better than out all depends on what the fish are up to.
I do find that the river side of the wall produces better than the ocean side for bream but on the ocean side tailor etc. really depends on conditions etc.

cheers, Gerard
