PS help looking at buying a 1999 GLX petrol landcruiser 40.000 k on the clock $38.000 hows it sound

Great 4WD, Low K's, but still would not call it cheap by any standards.
Can use www.redbook.com.au as a guide, also you can see what people are advertising them all over Australia for, on the quicksearch at http://carsguide.news.com.au/news/ just go classified ads not the dealers.
I did a quick searck and they seem to be advertised from $27 K up to around what you are paying. #For that type of vehicle I would be looking at buying from the Public trustee Auctions where they clear the ex Gov and fleet cars. Most of the dealers buy there and then whac another 8 to 10 grand on them , why give them all your money. Yep the auctions are the way to go if you are after something late model low Ks.
You will save heaps if you do your homework and are patient and diligent.
Check out car point and the valuation on there for a good idea of the value.

PS those petrol Cruisers like the fuel as well. About 12mpg round town.

Thanks gents its hard but i dont want to rip my self off the sales men are telling me that the Autos are the go is this right.The one im looking at is a manual.

A lot of people are going for the auto's and there are a lot around.
I have not heard any bad reports on them as yet.
But in the end it won't matter what you get and if you want a manual get a manual.
Post a pic and tell us the tale when you find what you want.

Mate of mine had the same car petrol/auto. He had long rang tanks and needed every drop of them to get anwhere.

It was absolutely shocking on fuel - Averaging around 4 to 5 km per litre on the road. Take it off road and you could here the gurgle.

Go the diesel auto mate. (got a 2001 100series 4.2 turbo)
7.5 to 8km per L on the road. 1 and 1/2 tanks in her equals 135L of fuel. Drove it over to and around Fraser Island for a week, didn't need to refuel until I was back on the mainland.

It's also hard to get gas at most outback or out of the way Servo's. This must be taken into consideration if you are heading out west or up the cape at any stage.
And with a vehicle like this you would be mad not to.

Gas has next to no lubricants. The reason cabbies are getting 500,000 to 1,ooo,ooo km's out of their motors is because the motors rarely get a chance to get cold.


If you are not going to clock these k's have a good hard think before installling gas.
