my mate has just leased a new jeep cheroke sport with a 2.7 litre engine with the 6-speed manual box. I was just wondering if anyone knows what they are like on the sand and if there are any problems we should know about before heading up the beach. Planning to go up to Double Island Point in the next couple of weeks and any info will be appreciated

It's a Jeep of course it will be alright.
Most people let the tyres down a bit on the sand but that is up to yourselves.

Well thats the thing, i've seen the clearance on the wranglers and there very low but cheerochees are a bit higher i think. Got a 98 triton myself had a 76 Rangerover b4 that

The good thing is that Jeeps are very easily modified to increase the ground clearance. They are designed to sit higher and then lowered from the factory to suit the market that buys them and match the handling to suit that style of use.

I don't know about the newer Jeeps but I had a mid 90's Cherokee and Fraser was a breeze in it. In fact I had to pull two others out of a spot I went through easy. Did the Simpson in it - that was a breeze too. It was a very good 4x4.
