Hi,

Try Highway Diesel at Coopers Plains. They completely changed the power of my 97 factory turbo 80 series to the point it was a totally different vehicle to drive.

Diesel Australia. Down Springwood way... They are fan-bloody-tastic to deal with. Couldn't recommend them enough!

They did a great job on my 60 series diesel motor, and were very well priced too. They also happily talked to me on the phone and told me how to do some work myself so as to not have to pay to get others (including themselves) to do it!

Hi Akman 1,

The main work the guys do is adjust the off-boost setting in the injector pump--Check out

Cheers

Thanks for the advise guys. After searching the web for the above mentioned Engine tuners it appears they both are very similar. They both supply and service denso diesel gear. Whats even better is after more searching there is a very similar place down here. They are about to get a visit. Thatnks again.

Just out of interest though. completly different topic. On your oil pressure gauges where does your needle sit. I'm waiting for my next free saturday to run an oil pressure test. Hopefully i wont need a second free Saturday to do big end bearings.

Thanks for the info Brett :)RCG008 cant remember where the gauge sits as I dont get to drive it often :( but toyota had an unknown recall (finished now) on '80 turbos cause they were doing bigends around the 250k mark.
Rebuilt ours (non turbo)after 320k after idler pulley brg on aircond let go and smashed the radiator in pouring rain, bigends on it were like new.the engine got hot enough to stuff all glow plugs(looked fine but didnt work)also after the rebuild oil pressure was low so I checked it with a known gauge and replaced the geniune sensor(apparently common, toyota sell heaps $75 off the top of my head) so this may be your problem.
Bigends are easy to replace but the block has to be split to do mains.

Yeah the truck has 240 on it now. So it wouldnt suprise me if they were a little worn. It has a recall sticker on it but I havnt rang Toyota to find out what it was. If anyone knows what the recall no. was for the bearing replacement that would be great :)

Hi guys,

There is a fair amount of info on the lcool site that is 80 series specific-this link might explain the big-end bearing dramas that Toyota had.
