gaday all.
been waiting for the tuna to start their run.
had my first trip up the bay this morning.
put in at clevland for a cruzie trip to the tuna spots in the bottom end of the bay.
it was quiet for the first part then at about 6am the tuna schools started working the baitfish.
not many birds at first but they came soon enough.
6:02 first cast and hooked up useing my 4kg rig and a fragger.
10 minites and i had a macktuna in the net.
not bad for my first tuna of the season. 4kg and 65cm
probably a hundred casts or so later i had fish number 2 , 3.2 kg and 61cm.
then it quietend down somewhat.
i went to area near harries and the water was alive with bait , mainly gar i think.
the water errupted all around me so i through into the washing machine and Trevally and trevally and trevally. landed 5 before they moved on not big all around 35cmand 1/2 kg or so.
back down to the bottom again and it was on again. had a couple screaming runs then dropped.
lost 1 slug to the beasties. pulled out the 4Lb stick and it took a bit to bget a hookup cos with a 1000 series reel you gota wind like crap .
but i did get hooked up and almost spooled, i was down to 12 or so raps around the drum and the boat was gunned after the fish driveing and winding my assss off and the dirty rat spat the hook. bummer.back to harries and the small macks are there only 40 or 50 cm more likly frigits.
they where after the big baitfish.
so you couldn't throw anything big enough.
just for the info of the few that dont know 60cm for spots
had a guy ask today .
55cm is the legal for spots isn't it? dow. bit late when the things on ice. you wobby.
cant wait for the LT's to come on.
till next trip, which is a fresh trip to hinze dam next saturday .
cheers Cloud 9

not into eatin these tuna only LT's and YFT's but if you bleed them right and blanch them before you finish cooking them they taste not too bad.
but the macks are good for the points tally with the club.
nothin likre the reel zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz. :o
a screamin reel is a screamin reel no mater what the fish. ;)
