Just starting chasing Bream on lures and finding it quite successful so thought what about the Flyrod. Some advice on flies, technique and any advive would be much appreciated.

Managed a few. Crazie Charlies and jelly belly's have been the 2 I've had success on - fished REAL slow.
I've read other posts uing baited breath type patterns etc.

I use a 6lb leader on a 7wt sink tip under a 7wt rod.

Can't be much more help than that - still a newbie on fly.

Would you believe I've not managed a Jack this year. Would help if I'd target them probably :D :D
Been busy with work and all. When I've had the odd chance I've been out trying for a tuna - still no luck on the fly.
Will leave the tuna a few weeks and chase some jacks. This little flush will will be good.

Give Chris at ######## a yell. Great service and plenty of flies to choose from.

Whoops - must have used something bad there.

Single tail soft plastics, lead eyes and a bit of chenille to tie the eyes on. Toadfish wreck them pretty quickly.

Hi

Like justin Said #7 sink tip or intermediate crazy charlie styles (aka Jelly belly) Slow small shar strips. It will all depend on the day and the mood the fish are in.

Cheers

Hi fishtale
I too have just started chasing bream on the fly and it is a very productive method.
I was lucky enough to have been shown the ropes by a guy who has been chasing them for over 10 years on fly.
We use a fly tied here in victoria called a BMS and it is by far the only fly to use. This fly has been proven on the south coast from mallacoota to perth
Cheers; humbolt

Humbolt,

Would have to agree with your re the BMS flies and bream - it's a top pattern. The Hammerhead, Estuary and PA BMS in olive or black are my favourites.

Cheers,

Chris.

Steve, i have had excellent results for bream and whiting, in the Gippsland area of Vic. I use a custom tied shrimp pattern fly by Chris Beech. They are $12/ea, but are brilliant imitations, and are very hardy. I have caught around 20 bream/whiting on one, and it still looks pretty good, so i recon they are worth the money.
Hope this helps.
Peter

You can use small jig hooks, keeps the hook point up, and they wiggle quite nicely. Glue the thing to the hook. You can wrap the shank with a bit of thin lead wire. Max
