Just got a new boat and was wondering where I could get the best insurance cover.

Any recommendations guys?

;) Club Marine is pretty good, (as far as insurer's go!) ;D

Hey Christine,
Give RACQ and Suncorp a try as well. Don't forget if you intend to go water skiing, you'll need extra cover for that. ;)

Thanks guys, I will be speaking to RACQ, Suncorp and Club Marine.

I won't be sking with it though, it's for fishing the Morten bay #and surrounding areas as well as the dams.

I'm with Club Marine. They were extremely helpful when I had an accident last year. Quick response & approval for repairs, actually they approved everything before they even saw it! Same day as the accident. Great stuff. http://www.clubmarine.com.au/

Thanks Fitzy, but I'm going with RACQ. I've been a member for so long I can get a beter deal with them.

Be careful ,not all insurers will give you an agreed value.I was with Club , but changed to the cover that Whitworths have. I found them easier to get along with.as have a 20 year old boat, and wanted an agreed value.
Give Whitworths at Wooloongabba a call, they will give you the free call number

:-/Just received the renewal notice for Insurance (Club Marine) and they want to wack on a $1000 excess if the boat is stolen and no security device is fitted. Have to work out what they mean by a security device, but I think Whitworth's may be worth looking into. Might up the insured value too, I think. AAAAArrgggh, those bills!!! >:( >:(

You don't mention the capability of the new vessel but whatever insurance just check the fine print with distance offshore as some are quite restrictive.

Some will only cover 12 nm which locally here would put the close islands out of bounds.

Cheers, Kerry.

Thanks for all the replies everyone.

Since I'm already a member of RACQ I've deceided to go with them, and it's a better deal than I've found anywhere else.

With a $200 excess I'll pay $393.20 a year. Full replacement of boat (with same) within the first 12 mths. It covers everything in and on the boat and I can go up to 200kms offshore.

The boat's a Quintrex 4.75 TOPENDER with a 60hp Yahama four stroke on the back. I bought it new on the w/end and picked it up yesterday.

Cheers

Christine
