dont have a pic of my best but it was a 6ft jew just under the rail bridge on the hawkesbury. 2am when it hit and just after 245 when it came in.
released to play around and give more pleasure. i was using a 40cm mullet for bait on an overhead real with no sinker.

My fish would have looked very similar to Nico's and caught also in the pine, but mine was caught on a pilchard about 3 years ago, we were fishing in an inflatable so we weren't too keen to let this big mum in the boat, and certainly she was way too big to be keeping her. Sorry, no pics, and no measurements. :(

40cm mullet #;D fishing for croc's ? ;D ;D that sounds like a bit of over kill for a creek bait but it did the job , good catch coasty

60cm mother in law fish on 8lb line at night on a pier. Took 5 of us and 20 mins to bring it in. Who said fishing is not about teamwork ;D

One time in the pine I caught a bloody huge conger pike eel which to me was the ultimate mother in law fish, I was in the front Thwart seat and pulling the bastard in along the starboard side, the head was virtually next to me and my mate said the tail had just surfaced at the stern of the boat, a 4.2mtr dory :o

The head must have been 20cm long, and had the most severe looking teeth I have ever seen !!

Had I known they were top crab pot bait I would've entertained taking it on and pulling into the boat, but due to the size and the teeth we made a quick decision to cut the line

NASTY :o ::)

As they go it's not a big jew, 15.5kg, but is my best river fish, ( I'd rather go outside).

One thing that helped me catch more in the creeks was to use a paternoster rig, this keeped the live baits off the bottom and made them easier for the jacks, barra, salmon etc.. to get.

Cheers Mick,

I'm still learning to catch the big silver fish, my mate Ida should take more credit than me as he is my jew mentor.

I prefer the deep water where he is my deckie.

25KG jew on 6kg line in the Hawksbury river at Juno Point on a 30cm butterflied Yellowtail.

It was caught useing a daiwa regal-Z spinning reel and a Daiwa Procaster x rod....a little more suited to bream casting!! Typical as I had 2 other rods and reels out, one was a Callcutta 500 (Perfect for Jewfishing), the other a shimano 6500 Baitrunner (perfect for jewfishing) and the one I mentioned above....not so perfect....for any fishing really, the reel was too big for the rod and the rod was TOO small for the fish!!!! Some days you have the luck!! Sean :)

oh Sean your a god! ;D ;D ;D ;) Now back to the post, I think the best fish I have ever caught in a river would be a stingray 56cm wide ;D Hmm is that classed as a fish? :-? If not probably a bream I guess :-/ Done most of my fishing on a beach in W.A (Esperance all the way along the beach till you get to the Australian Bite) Gotta love the Australian Salmon.

I know what your talking about onerabbit, I've been chasing a black jew for sometime and there have been a couple occasions where what I though was a jew turned out to be a ray of some description.

I think we all know that feeling ::) haha

I know sometimes you can be 99% sure its a ray, but can you believe, some people call it for a ray b4 they have even seen it and cut the line!!! You will NEVER see me do that. A big Jew can feel like a dead weight too sometimes.
Sean :)
84mick......hope you aren't thinking I'm one of those 'he was so big but because I've got really big balls He was no match for me' type people, I am not I assure you, as I said, a lot of luck too!! :)
