I received today my first correspondence from the Marine Parks Authority about the implementation of the Cape Byron Marine Park.
I had made a long submission against the establishment of the marine and this was the first correspondence received since the submission was made. I had asked if it was possible to get an extension on the original deadline of 7 days by phone but was advised that such an extension was not possible. I discovered later that certain groups and individuals who supported the Park received such extensions.
The Park is a triumph of stupidy over reason, it is a triumph of small, monied vested interests over common sense and it is a triumph of a small minority of over educated and over excitable greenies over honesty and the common man.
The system was fixed to obtain a known outcome from the start and as such must be seen as a triumph for a government that wishes to restrict the rights and happiness of a major user group.
