Hi All,
Thinking about an upgrade for the 610xs Barcrusher. Currently have a 125 opti 85hrs still with 4 year warranty. The 150 4 stroke Merc looks the part but without owning a 4 stroke before not sure if improvements in performance can justify costs. I would like a bit more grunt not too concerned about fuel efficency (pretty happy with the opti). Any ideas re change over cost and opinions would be appreciated.
Thanks

If you like the 3 cyl opti the why not the V6 opti .... as the mazda ad says More is More!!!

What sort of performance figures are you getting now? RPM's/Knts

Mate your call your money but 40knts at WOT is as much as I would want, guessing that you would be getting 27knts or so at 4200 or there abouts ? as quick as you want to go offshore in most conditions, sounds like a pretty well matched rig to me, I doubt that you achieve that much of a difference in performane to justify the cost.

The 150 Merc is also 36kgs more sitting on the bum as well.

I would not do it, but as I mentioned, your money.;D

Cheers

40knots seems rather optimistic for a 125hp on a 6m alloy boat? how was that measured, paddle wheel sensor?

I would personally never own a two stroke so my input here is as biased as the other two stroke owners suggesting to stay with a two stroke :)
