Just go my hands on the new Egrell EB6 baitcaster. This rod has been designed and built for impoundment barra, but I reckon its capabilities extend beyond impoundments to estuary, cod fishing etc. It is probably the most versatile baitcaster rod I have used. recently in the ABT, I used it to cast light storm suspending shads to 130mm slick rigs, to heavy jointed Xraps..it casts all a dream.

The aluminium ALPS reel seat, is not only original, very cool and light..but you can feel every movement of the lure thru the blank and reel seat giving excellent touch and contact with the lure.....I am no specialist, but I can feel the difference between it and conventional graphite seats....and its just plain SWEET looking for the 'bling' factor!!!;D got all ALPS guides too. 6ft long too.

Now I am not much for the 'techinical' side of things, but I do know this rod is just superb to cast, retrieve and has more than enough grunt down low to land any barra anywhere!! I have landed a few (more to come I hope) and it smashes them.

Here are some pics....Its sweet.

Cheers Steve

Thanks Steve ...... being a Newsouthwelshman - I couldn't quite get into this whole Egrel rod thing ( a Qld thing ;)) - but in this particular instance Eric has come up with a rod that not only feels good with a lighter tip section & bottom grunt ....... but outstanding aesthetics to match - the ALPs winch seat looks like it would be at home on a game rod.... but the rod is pleasantly light.
Hats off to Eric on this baby

I have only felt this rod in the shop but I was very impressed. I was thinking along the lines of a Jack/ Salty Barra sort of stick.

Sounds good Steve and looks the goods as well. Looking to replace the brand new Egrell that I lost out of the boat at Mondy and this could be the go plus a step up from my previous - if the insurance company pays up!

Thanks Ben and Al,

I have caught a couple of barra on it, albiet at night in openish water. Didn't really test it too much...but it felt great. Going on previous experience, and feeling this rod with these fish, I am certain it will eat up any barra in hand-to-hand combat in timber...thats my next aim and test.!!! good to meet you the other day too mate, Ben!!

cheers Steve
