Just a few samples of our trip to 1770 last week. Managed 2 trips out - one 3 day and one 4 day.
First trip my son Ryan managed a 15kg red and another 3 around 6-7 kg along with a 6kg Spangled Emporer and an assortment of other reefies.
Came back in on Monday to pick up Dave who arrived from Bne and out again on Tuesday for another 4 day arriving back Friday.
All fish caught on Mullet fillets, whole mullet and Hussar at our usual spots except for the last couple of days when we came across good showings a lot closer to Musgrave. This is where we found the Trout, Red Throat, Maori Cod etc.
The pics are from the 2nd trip except for the 15kg Red.
All up the best catch we've had in the last 4 years. Weather decided to play the game this time - not like other years.
Hope we left some reds for the comp guys.

Man, I'm so jealous! That is exactly the trip I have been recently thinking about making! Unfortunately it will be some time until I can get the time off from work but I am dead keen on driving the rig up from the Goldy to 1770 and heading over! Congrats on a top trip, great to see so much red stuff! :D

Cheers, Trav

PS: What sort of rig did you do that trip in?

Excellent catch, well done mate.

Much better variety than the shit fish from the south.

From the pics it looks like a 7m Dominator cat with 2 x 150HP Hondas.

Living in Gladstone and having all this on our doorstep makes me wonder why people go all the way out to the swaines to catch a fish...Dont get me wrong, Swaines isgreat but a long way...You guys did great...Plenty of fish and great scenery up this way. I did a week out on the water during the M&G last week and stayed at Fitzroy and Musgrave for 6 nights. Saw a heap of whales. Caught fish etc etc..Great part of the world and I am glad I live here.

One shot, its the trip across the curtis channel that can get you undone. pick your weather window and a trip out in your 5.4 will be fine. i have seen smaller boats out there. Its about 32 nautical mile to the lagoon from Agnes

one-shot we are regularily out there in plate alloy boats less than 5.3m in length although mine is a stabicraft and has that added stability and security. You should be fine just check your weather and make sure you have a good chartplotter showing the reefs and GREEN ZONES :P
good luck
