i have a raymarine dsx500 which i purchased two year ago and am looking at getting something a bit better i dont think the raymarine is all that good,,,,, the furuno's look to be in adifferent league of thier own ???
can any body lead me in the right direction as i dont want to buy something as crappy as wot i got now....any advice on any brand would be appriecated....
anyone want a cheap sounder.lolololol

im into bottom bashing at depths from 15m to 120m

almost any sounder will be OK for those depths, but as the old saying goes, "bigger is better" Furuno are indeed a good brand, but they also make cheaper models, just get the biggest screen with the best resolution, and max power that you can afford.

look at the furuno 620 or 585, great sounders but a decent outlay on purchase. the new lowrance HDS units look alright and a little easier on the back pocket. if you are in Brisbane head to the boat show i am sure there will be some good deals going on (hopefully), cheers Lee

Plenty of furuno 620s from O/S under 800 US. We still getting robbed here

Whitworths are having there 15% boatshow sale, during the brissie boat show.

That improves the costs.... and no entry fee to the show.


IMO...... Furuno.

furuno 620 is good (when the dam thing dont fog up)
mine has been back to fix the problem BUT!!!
do a search on sounders fogging up.

FURUNO all the way I got a LS4100 and I love it.
