Hi all , just a quick question , if anyone has used or had any experience with these pedal kayaks http://www.nativewatercraft.com/mariner_12_propel.cfm. They look pretty good and can pedal and go backwards.

thanks George

Hadn't seen them before, but they look great.
Have you got any prices?

Just a couple of quick notes on things that I noticed with this kayak - They just didn't seem to have a lot of deck space for mounting of accessories (rod holders, sounders etc) or any real storage space either for stowing gear fish etc. They are also bloody heavy (41kg) for their size, try throwing that on the roof or your car! These are just a couple of items that should be considered if buying a kayak for fishing but then again only my opinion. Apart from that it would be interesting to know what they are worth.

Hi George,

Kev's comments are worth considering.

The competitor to this would be the Hobie Pro Angler, which is just under 40kgs. It has a heap more space and mounting options.

Hobie also have a range of fishing kayaks that use the pedalling system (Mirage Drive) which are less heavy. I have 2 of these, the Outback (1 person) and the Oasis (2 person).

Cheers,

Pete
