Sorry everyone yet another question about braid :( . How the hell do you convert PE measurements to mm. I have searched and searched but cant find a thing. Does anyone know the diameter of PE 1,2,3,4,5 etc in mm.

Cheers
Scott

Got these stats from Jap Tak for the YGK stuff.

Strangely enough when I compared the PE line size vs diameter for the 4 strand powerhunter and the 8 strand ultra, they were identical. Even their new one called WX8 Ultra Dyneema was the same.

PE Size & Line diameter in mm

3 0.285mm
4 0.33mm
5 0.37mm
6 0.41mm
8 0.47mm
10 0.52mm
12 0.57mm

Wallet wise that makes the YGK powerhunter pretty good buying. I've ordered all four YGK PE types before from J.T. (Compact/Pwr hunter/Ultra & WX8) & no probs whatsoever.

I love the stuff and I'm looking forward to seeing how the Daiwa x8 Samurai braid that I have now, shapes up.

This is taken off an article which explains a lot, the line sizes can differ a lot in breaking strain

.................................................. .................................................. .......................
Understanding PE Lines
They began with diameter, using a long-established numbering system that fits a small range of diameters into a number – for instance, a No. 4 Japanese line will be close to 0.35mm diameter, regardless of whether it’s braid, nylon, fluorocarbon or whatever. In gel-spun polyethylene braids, these Japanese numbers are commonly used from 0.6 (about 0.14mm) to 12 (about 0.7mm); and they’re usually prefixed with PE (for Polyethylene), so now you’ll often see Japanese braids referred to as PE1, or PE4, or PE8 or whatever.

One of the most noticeable differences is the line is completely soft and limp and non coated.

As PNG1M chart shows PE has nothing to do with breaking strain, luckely we don't use PE ratings in mono :o
PE lb RATINGS – A general rule of thumb is PE3=30lb PE50=50lb PE8=80lb but the high end thin Braids [read very expensive] still carry the same PE number. Example: PE8 Jigman = 80lb -- PE8 Ultra Jigman = 113lb max.

PE to lb
PE3- 30-40
PE4- 40-55
PE5 - 50-70
PE6 – 60-80
PE8 – 80-100
PE10 – 100-120
PE12 - 120-150
