Hi, does anyone know if you can mate a GME GX600D with a Lowrance 525c DF. The obvious outcome would be to ensure the DSC function on the GX600D is enabled. The 525c DF is NMEA 2000 compatible.

Mate a quick call or email to GME might be the best thing. I have just taken my new 600D out after finding out post professional installation that it will not talk to my raymarine A65 without a software modification. I had GME look at the unit and they have certified it 100% working (in writing) but advised me that the two units were not compatible.
Do you already have the 600D? I am just about to list mine for sale.

Brendan, thanks for that info. I take it the software mod needed is for your A65? Haven't got the 600D yet. Have fitted the 525c DF about a 3 months ago & it's sweet. You look like you may have a 600D spare?

I have a 600D I had to send it away to get a software updated to talk to my HumminBird 787c2I. I emailed them the raw data out put via the RS232 "Comport port" on my laptop using hyperterminal. The service i got from GME was 100% i got the radio back with in a few days back by that weekend. The Tech at GME called Phil was fantastic. The good news it that GME radios are made in OZ so you are also supporting US aussie workers.

The software mod as I understood it applied to the GME. I didnt actually think of it the other way round.Sent you a pm.
Brendan

Hi tenzing

Might be worth another call to GME.

They have just releases another version of software to work with more units.

Raymarine A65 seems to work fine.

This is why buying locally makes more sense in the long run. The local distributors hear about a problem and take the steps to get it fixed. Buy from O/S and this service goes out the door!!!

Did you have a software mod or did your unit talk to the A65 straight up.?

And the answer is..... yes, apparently so. Had a long chat with Lance Smith, Customer Service Supervisor at Navico (Lowrance Australia) & he confirmed the 525c DF has the organic software to talk to a 6000D, & for that matter every other DSC enabled VHF on the market at the moment.
