Gday guys, have been looking at getting my 1st sounder. Budget is a bit limited but have been looking at a humminbird matrix 12x. Pixel count seems to be ok, power would be fine for the depth I regularly fish and it has the GPS ready option so I could add that at a later date when funds permit. Does anyone use these sounders or know if there ok? Any info would be appreciated

sounds to me like your looking at the 700 series in the Humminbird range.. would i be right in saying the 727 or 737.
if so, they are a v'good sounder, though B&W, they still show awesome detail..
but if you were looking at purchasing one of these from australia, you'd be better off importing a colour unit from the US. swampman gave u a few v'good links.
Australian Humminbird 727 price is $650, add GPS receiver + $270. comes to $930
Or (as an example) buy a Lowrance LMS-520 (or 522, 525,527) imported for less than $800. In australia they retail for $1300.
