Anyone spotted a Spotted Hind?

I am trying to find a photo of a Spotted Hind, but Google isn't helping.

If anyone has one , or can direct me to one, I would be most appreciative.

Thanks,

Try Fallow or Chital Deer.

If that is what you mean.

Have fun Haji Baba.

Re: Anyone spotted a Spotted Hind?

Strange to see this as I actually landed one tonight on an 8/0 okky circle hook with a whole squid on it ..{jew bait} go figure .. I gutted it and gave it away but could get a pic tomorrow ,,
They also go by GOLD SPOTTED SWEET LIP maybe or something like that .. they have the sweetlip mouth ..

Re: Anyone spotted a Spotted Hind?

Caught one off the rocks just north of Ballina. Also had no luck in finding a picture.
A very handsome looking fish.
Are they any good for eating?
Regards, Rob.

Re: Anyone spotted a Spotted Hind?

I had the same problem as you a few years ago. I've caught heaps of them at the boulder beach at Lennox. The bloke at the bait and tackle shop had a book where they were described as some type of bream. In the end I've tracked them down and think they are Netted Sweetlips.
Go here and then click on the picture - it will take you to a variety of pics (one of which will match what you're catching, hopefully)
http://www.fishbase.org/Summary/Spec...ry.php?id=7625
or maybe just go here
http://www.fishbase.org/Photos/Thumb...ry.php?ID=7625
or here even
http://www.fishbase.org/Photos/Pictu...what=specie s

I think Spotted Hind(e) might be a local name.

Cheers

PS. Despite what some say I reckon they taste like sweetlip and are good on the chew when filleted and skinned.
