Seasons are Changing on Gold Coast
Over the last few weeks the water temp has been rising and the size of the Snapper I've been targetting on the inshore reefs have been getting smaller with most of the bigger fellers heading out into deeper water
So went out this morning giving the snapper one last hit up (water temp 20.4)and thinking about the Mackeral season comming up .Through out a lightly weighted wasn't long before the baitrunner started screamin ,I thought, Yes one last Knob, but as the fight went on realised it was something else .Ended up boating a nice Jew.Things went quite after that so changed positions. Through the floater out again and it went off resulting in a 15lb Yellow Tail King just boated it then second rod went off another 10lb king ended up with 5 YTKing in 10-15 lb range and all were released. Then finished the day off with 2 good Mose's Perch and 2 small Squire.
So it looks like we are in transition time waiting for the Mackeral to show up [smiley=2thumbsup.gif]

He's back! Good to hear a report from Willo and the Tweed region. How did the winter treat you down there? Sounds like you got your fair share of knobsCan't wait for your first report of big Spanish - as we saw so often last summer [smiley=2thumbsup.gif] Have already promised myself to be out off the Tweed more often this season. Only gave it one go last season. I'd expect a couple more trips out there this season though

Hi DC
Was disscussing with Heath the other day about the snapper season on the inshore reefs and we both agreed that the actuall size of the snapper were down a bit this season (Although got busted up a few times in a big way), but the numbers were good.
So the Spotties should start showing up soon followed buy the Big Spaniards [smiley=2thumbsup.gif]

Well done Willo, that should be a nice eating fish round that size, i hear the 10-15kg mark is right on the money for eating
I havent been down the tweed in a while, but i'm sure i'll be back very soon.
