Daintree Fishing
Hey all. Just seeing if anybody out there has some pointers for fishing the Daintree during winter. Ideally, i want to be lure fishing, but i know how hard going the lurefishing is during winter.
If anyone has any pointers, i'd love to hear from themSouthwind SF20 'Piscatoreous'

Re: Daintree Fishing
Dan I've only fished the Daintree a couple of times .
But during winter i would head to the river mouth and start casting slugs and poppers, usually you'll get queenies or trevally.
The barra will generally be holding up in the snags , and i would be giving these a work out with deep suspending lures keeping it it the strikzone for as long a possible, rubber prawns are really good for this, DOA's are dynamite for this type of work.
you could try up river in the weed beds for smaller barra.
Jacks i would downsize your lures, tilsan bass are a good one to use. Down sizing can really help on quiet days .
Using soft plastics grubs during winter will also pick up pikey bream , grunter, and numerous other fish, work them slowly right near the bottom.
hope that helps
Cheers Steve Ooi ..
