    what is it a  strippey 15-30cm

    hi all
    off moolloolaba the other day we caught some small longtail fish .
    i think they may be stripes .i put a hook behind its head and used no weight and let him go and take line with no luk. is this the wright thing todo and can 1 keep them to eat is there a legal size .

    Geez grey inflatable that narrows it down may i suggest you get a copy of "grants guide to fishes" its 100bucks well spent.

    Sounds like a Whiptail to me. Caught my best ever coral trout on one and yep, a hook just behind the head.

    I saw a guy using one for Cod bait in Moreton Bay one day. He had about four realy nice cod in his bag so they must be good bait, I've never eaten one though.

    I haven't eaten one either but the fishing is getting a bit tough when you resort to eating the bait.
