Ensure your life jackets are accessable

We were pulled at at the boat ramp by the water police with a load of crab pots on board. The officer suggested that we were in breach of the regulations because our life jackets were located under the casting desk below the pots and therefore not accessable.. He was OK about everything but I thought it should be a warning to everyone.

I've always been worried about that, Thats why when the boat is loaded up with camping gear on top of the hatches I have a jacket at everyone's feet.
