    seafoam equivalent?

    Hi there,

Have been reading a bit about the yanks taking to 'seafoam' to clean out the carbon buildup within their outboards.. It's not available in Australia.
Does anyone know what our equivalent is?

    Cheers

Old mechanics trick to put water down the carb to clean out the carbon. Dunno if I would be real keen on newer type motors with all their fancy control systems.

Any subaru dealer has Subaru Upper Engine Cleaner, it's part of a standard service for the boxers. It's equivalent to seafoam.

    Cheers,

I haven't used it on a boat motor, but the Subaru U.E.C. definitely works on the car...

If you're going to go for it Cham make sure you get the right stuff because with a 2 stroke the fuel/air goes through the crankcase where the bearings are, somewhat different to a 4 stroke.

OMC engine tune up spray is recommended for the Johnson/Evinrude 2 strokes. Should be available from your local dealer.
