    New impeller housing?

Im not sure if I need just an impeller or I need to get a whole new housing as it looks like some of the plastic has melted away around the edges... opinions?

Think to yourself . Why did it happen???? How long ago did I replace the impellor? What am I doing wrong? There is aftermarket kits for most motors at good prices. What motor is it?

yep she is stuffed.. Jack if you do it right the first time you dont need to do it the 2nd time mate. just spend the $$$ mate and you will be ok.. might need to find out there is a thermostat in the motor as well mate as you might need to replace that at the same time..

yamaha 40 four stroke. Mate replace the thermostat as well it will be the best thing to do. buy the looks of the water pump the thermostat will need doing as well.. Better to do it now than latter on when the motor has over heated..

even if it comes in at just say $250 or even $400 all up mate, that is money well spent for a little pice of mind...

It happened because the drongo I bought it from liked to cross shallow sand bars and managed to get sand stuck up in the intake/impeller.. I hope its the sort of kit I can install myself! And it's a 40 4str yammy (2000 model)

Well I've only owned the boat for a couple of weeks and my partners step-dad (whom I bought the boat from) said last time he was out the tell-tale just stopped working so he had to head for home asap.. This thermostat you speak of... I must google it and see if I can replace it to then!! Thx for the advice

If you're going to work on it yourself get a genuine yamaha manual.
Here's a link to the online parts manual you will need to drill down with your HP, Year and model number.
