Re: Should we buy Australian Made boats or take our chance offshore ?
Take a leaf out of Trev's Noble drama and hold the dealer responsible. It sounds like they are trying to do the right thing by you but if you signed a purchase contract with them then that is your best avenue.
I would be seeking legal advice regardless.
Sorry to hear. You can't be neutral on a moving train

Re: Should we buy Australian Made boats or take our chance offshore ?
The dealer "Coastal" have bent over backwards to rectify this situation as soon as they where made aware of how Evolution boats dropped the ball, I would like to be given the same opportunity to rectify the issue if it was my dealership.
I had too many people shit can the workmanship of my fitters over the years because a $50 part caused their engine to blow up, we didn't manufacture the part we just on sold it. The situation with our boat is purely lack of quality control over poor workman ship, agreed it should not be present in a $65K boat I personally would be pissed to find it in a $900 BAIT BOAT.
The outcome at the moment is something I still don't have control over, what happens after that is a totally different story.
Cheers

Re: Should we buy Australian Made boats or take our chance offshore ?
Sorry and saddened to read that Dick. This is going to do some damage to Evo and they will deserve it with the off hand way you were treated. Not only the bad quality control at the start but the crap personal service from the owner who obviously couldn't give a fig about his companies reputation.
Perhaps he thinks he would be better off spending the money on advertising than on your boat.
This is on fishnet as well now and Evo's competitors should be popping the champers.
No point making things idiot proof, they'll only make a better idiot.

Re: Should we buy Australian Made boats or take our chance offshore ?
I have to disagree to a small point.
Its a TOTAL LACK of workmanship
NO quality control
lack of pride
lies
bad attitude
nothing but contempt for the customer
and greed
and thats just what i can think of and not necessarily in that order.
step one. legal advice and see what happens. step two is the wide stream media(ch7,9)
once he opens his door to see a camera crew, i would bet he will start to help.
again. only after (if) legal avenue fails.

Re: Should we buy Australian Made boats or take our chance offshore ?
"Australia's greatest boat" the website will tell you! Shame, shame, shame...
Sorry to hear you have been shafted, disgraceful to pay so much $ and get treated like that, especially after making the effort to drive all the way to Melbourne... May be 'Trailer Boat' and the other sites that gave them "Awards" should be notified of your issue's. Con men nothing more by the sounds of it.
Hope you get it resolved in one way or another.
Regards,
Richo

Re: Should we buy Australian Made boats or take our chance offshore ?
I can second that as Darren and the guys went over and above what they were obliged to do after I had issues with my Goldstar and it's a credit to them but shame on the manufacturers when they are quick to take your hard earned money but then don't like dealing with the after sales side of things. Its a shame as I really like the look of the 650 as a potential upgrade but would certainly reconsider that decision now.The dealer "Coastal" have bent over backwards to rectify this situation as soon as they where made aware of how Evolution boats dropped the ball, I would like to be given the same opportunity to rectify the issue if it was my dealership.
Hope it all works out for you Dick

A picture is worth a thousand words...
Any chance of you posting examples of the "quality" craftmanship that went into your boat? How about a link to a pdf of the surveyor's report?
Hope you get the outcome you are looking for!!!
Cheers

Re: Should we buy Australian Made boats or take our chance offshore ?
I wonder how Al McGlashan's one is going as he uses it nearly every day? Wonder if it is holding up ok. I know there was an early Evolution here on the Sunny Coast that had all sorts of teething problems but it was a very early one. I was interested at the time that Seasaw Mark who used to be on this forum never pulled the trigger on one after going a fair way down the track with looking at one and going for a test drive etc.

Re: Should we buy Australian Made boats or take our chance offshore ?
I have a custom alloy boat on order but had the evolution as my back up plan if finance didn't work out. Not now! I would never ever by an evolution now after reading this. Doesn't matter if al mcglashin lee raynor or whoever is selling them

Re: Should we buy Australian Made boats or take our chance offshore ?
Smithy if you look at this youtube clip Lee rayner is promoting his Evolution 600 at 5:15 min into the clip you can see the floor has separated from the bulkhead the same as mine did not saying the 600 has no stringer support under the floor area that my 552X cracked but it looks like it has issues as well.
Fed bought the Hull off the guys at Coastal Powerboats down the coast.
Thanks for the well wishes guys trying to keep this all in context, just remember it is only a material possession! Yes it is disappointing but my family is well and my snapper PB is 85
The stress of this has been enormous keeping a lid on it has been a real test, I have re framed from posting this until I had an outcome I just didn't want to see anyone else have to go through this.
cheers
Dick

Re: Should we buy Australian Made boats or take our chance offshore ?
Good for you Dick if you bought the hull direct to cut the dealer out I wouldn't have a great deal of sympathy but you played the game properly IMO.Fed bought the Hull off the guys at Coastal Powerboats down the coast.
I'm amazed you have jumped though all the hoops so far, it's one thing to try and help the dealer a little (and getting things fixed quicker) but towing it to Melbourne.... NO WAY.
I'd give Coastal the whole problem, end of story.

Re: Should we buy Australian Made boats or take our chance offshore ?
Thats a shocking story, I was looking at the EVO but now there is no way. When you get that sort of attitude from the manufacturer, it will show up in the end product as you have just experienced.Does not do much for the support of our local dealers. No wonder so many of us are looking elsewhere.
