Yamaha 200HO 4 stroke fuel usage

    Hey Guys,
Just looking to see what kind of fuel usage people are getting out of the 200hp yamaha 4 strokes.
I am putting one on a 6.4m plate boat and just keen to see how other peoples engines are performing and what range you would go.
I know every boat performs differently.
    Cheers

Made a mistake of underpowering a few years ago . The original engine was a Yammy f200 . Great engine ,quiet ,but was working hard at times and the fuel usage was high , I repowered last year with a Yam 250 and realised i should have done it in the first place . Fuel consumption is better and my cruise speed has increased an extra 6 knots for the same fuel burn as the 200 .

Thanks for the feed back guys.
Rocklobster, 150 HP is the recommended and 200hp max. So cant put any more horses on the back.

Definately go the 200. Great engine . A friend of mine has a zuk 200 and he is very happy with , . I am not sure if it always true but suzuki owners report they alway seem to have better fuel economy than the yammys . Either would be good so check out the best deal available . I believe suzuki were offering a 5 year warranty .

My brother has a 200 4s yam on a 6.0m seafarer victory. Had it for a couple of years now. He gets 1.4-1.5 km/L off the guages consistantly. The fuel usage information off the guages when refueling is spot on, if the trip meter says 75 litres used it takes 75 litres to refuel. Great motor

Thanks Wayne, appreciate the info. Cant wait for the boat. 300L should give me a fair range

Hey Dale, I've had a Yammy 200hp 4 stroke for 4 years now and have done just over 500 hours and it's never missed a beat. Awesome OB. I have it on a 6.25 Haines Hunter Classic 600, dry weight 1100kg's. Fuel varies from 1.2litres per Mile to 1.5litres per mile depending on load and conditions. Would buy another one tomorrow. Mine is 6 years old now so I can imagine the new models are even better. Cheers, dave
