No more need for XD50
Happy to say that the tub is in the shop for fitting of new DF 175 .
Cant wait to get out and get it run in before 1770 trip in 5 weeks.
Seems like its a popular upgrade at the moment. got the boat show deal with the garmin stuff but chose the GMI 10 X 2 as I have other plans for GPS upgrade.
Have been thinking up uses for the oil filler cap area on the transom.
Have found myself in the posession of about 9 litres of unwanted ( now ) Evinrude XD50 2 stroke oil.
I have a full bottle (US gallon 3.78 l) and about 5 odd litres still in the drum with a transfer bottle and pourer. Has not been transferred to and from boat .
If anyone wants it for 50 bucks drop me a pm.
Cheers
Brendan
Edit 1/9/12 2pm
Thanks Guys. The Oil is taken .

Re: No more need for XD50
you will love the info available thru the gmi 10s. i even had to resort to the instructionsto get the most out of them.
following the run-in procedure is pretty painful when you are dying to let rip but i guess its got to be good in the long run.

Hi Tenzing
Well done on the new motor. Am loving the new Suzuki on my Victory. Completly different boat now. Where did you go for the new motor. I went through Jeffers Motor Sport at Burpengary. He told me to not baby it too much in the run in. Let it rip as much as you like just dont keep it at one rev range for to long.
Enjoy( They sound cool starting them for the first while! )

Re: No more need for XD50
Yeah Keith has it at his shop now,
Choice of motor was influenced in no small way by his good rep as installer and service agent.
Had a good chat with him at boat show. Took time off on the friday to get a bit better access to the guys. He had just put the dough down on a victory himself so it was all cool.
He organised a fair enough trade on the evinrude and the garmin show special was a bonus.
Just itchin to get it back!

Re: No more need for XD50
Any chance of a dash photo ryan?
Cheers
Brendan
Love to see how others placed the GMI 10 s . Mine are hopefully going in place of the old 4" gauges but there is a slight curve in the glass behind so a bit of a fiddle
AND , as these things usually happen , my trusty old a65 plotter/sounder stopped seeing satellites the day before she went in, so while I have the bank managers ear, I have been thinking about a new raymarine e127 in the dash ( might JUST squeak in with the lip of the unit kind of overhanging the centre dash panel a little, or get the larger dash panel from haines). They tell me they are made as one offs to order.
I would then re antenna the a65 by NMEA and replace my old Navman backup with the old raymarine, as it its all kitted up with points and routes.
Spent a couple of hours with the whitworths guys the other night fiddling with the new raymarine.
BTW the new upgrades fot platinum navionics will have incredible contour lines at close zoom making for a spectacular bottom view in maps.

Hi Brendan
Will try and upload some photos of motor and boat. I went the old gauges instead of the deal they had going at the time. Didnt want to muck around with the dash. Keiths offsider owns a victory as well. They rate them over the vagabond. Much lighter and more sporty to drive.

Re: No more need for XD50
good choice on the gauges. with the old 2 stroke suzi i had tacho and speedo plus small volts, trim, oil level, and fuel gauges so the dash was pretty busy before. i made up an overlay and sprayed it a metallic charcoal colour so i could mount the hds5 in the middle and put one gmi 10 on either side. it also covers all the old holes as welltight squeeze but its an older signature bowrider not that much room for electronics so i did what i could
dash 2.jpg dash 1.jpgdash 3.jpg
i only worked out the other day that they have a full trip meter, fuel used and averages all connected up to the gps aerial. way too much information available
you can mix and match digital and analoque gauges and heading/direction as well
hope the pics work.
as well i can overlay more info on the sounder if i want but i try to keep it uncluttered as i have enough trouble finding fish as it is lol.
cheers ryan

Re: No more need for XD50
just a very small tip, read the motor maunal, especially the bit that tells you how to reset the service alarm that will go off at 10hours?? I think, kind of scares you when it goes off on your new motor, and you have no idea how to reset it! great motor the 175 Suzuki.
