Re: can i get some advie on seafaer, quality & ride?
One of my local dealers has the new 6.3M Stacer plate boat on an alloy trailer that you could get fully decked out ready to fish, with a 4 stroke and have a wad of cash to spare for that sort of money, your options are wide open.

i bought my own boat from this dealership. THIS is the seafarer that you want. http://www.cvmarine.com/Page.aspx/di...farer-228.aspx you could pay to have it shipped from the united states to australia and still have money left over.

Not bad alan, but geez you can't stand in the back corner and fish... those built in seats ruin that boat.

my friend tells me it costs $25K aus to import a boat like that. it would cost $100K aus to purchase. i'll bet you could sell it for $200k aus and turn a tidy profit. i just finished a vacation to sydney, cairns and brisbane. the prices you blokes have to pay are unbelievable!

You could get a decent cat for that, or a cruisecraft![]()

Re: can i get some advie on seafaer, quality & ride?
For running the big miles out of Mackay I'd take a traditional deep v Seafarer over a fat arsed cruise craft every day of the week. I'd also put that particular seafarer hull up against the more fancied american hulls too, if making big miles out past Penrith and back is on the books. Yes, they are fine in the bows and cap the odd wave going slower, but fine and sharp makes the miles and Lindsay Fry could build a quick hull.

Re: can i get some advie on seafaer, quality & ride?
Mate ive owned 4 seafarers (ventura 5.5,viking 5.5,& 2 6.2 vagabonds.) also spent a lot of time in a 6.8 voyager,oh and just sold a 685 cc explorer. The seafarers were all great boats ,they all were well mannered in any sea especially a following sea. They all were wet boats at slow speed in a head sea ,i'm talking 15-20 knots winds and idling back too do another drift, there isnt much bouancy up front and you get the odd 1 roll up & over the windscreen, but fine in reasonable conditions. The voyager was a great ride but a bit unsettled at rest due to 23 degree deadrise.
The 685 was a good compromise great layout ,roomy bunks, awsome to fish out of & ticks a lot of boxes,my biggest gripe with it was it tends too bang a bit with those big shoulders, but in saying that it is an awsome hull design for bar work with the planing plank and stability underway and at rest........everything is a COMPROMISE
I should point out that 1 of my vagabonds had a 175 2 stroke & 1 had a 200 yammy 4 stroke ,the 2 stroke was a far better balanced boat ,with the 4 stroke being some 100kg heavier at the time.
Also the 685 cc carried a 300kg verado on its bum so maybe it would have rode nicer with a 250 kg yammy 4 stroke.

Re: can i get some advie on seafaer, quality & ride?
I seriously like the look of these Big Rams and have been thinking about pulling the trigger on one for my next boat. Want to see what these new Cold Fronts look like once the first one rolls out

There is one on Boatpoint atm with twin E-bombs with 800+ hrs but they should be ok![]()

There was a big ram lived around the corner from me for a while. Glad its gone because I got sick of getting an involuntary horn every time I drove past - they are that good in the flesh, if pure function over form gets you going. That cold front looks like a V19r with an extra 3 degrees of deadrise? They really are just glorified raceboats, but I like them. Even the little ram has got me looking for excuses to have one.
