Re: soooo, what have you found in the briny?
Was hauling up the anchor thinking this is pretty bloody heavy, must have a big hunk of weed on it, up came a huge electrical cable connecting the mainline to an island, that was pretty scary.

Re: soooo, what have you found in the briny?
caught a wallet on a lure once in the hunter as well as a LOT of floating bloated cows. found wheelie bins, hazardous waste containers (empty and reported by us), mattresses, hotwater system in the logan, tons of diff crap out in the bay including a few anchors caught two rod and reels that had been in there so long brands were not reconisable. as i pick up any rubbish i see floating i am alwas heading back with half a wheelie bin worth of rubbish, ppl are just animals its not that hard to bin it at the ramp but some see the bay as their own rubbish dump

Re: soooo, what have you found in the briny?
My mate has found over 300 squid jigs over winter. About 50 are in usable condition but he's narrowed the choice down to just one. Its amazing how many different types of jigs are out there.
No point making things idiot proof, they'll only make a better idiot.

Re: soooo, what have you found in the briny?
The old man lost his prescription glasses over the side but kept fishing: about an hour later up they come on the end of his hook. His story was in the Noosa paper.
I have caught rods and reels all old and rusty a couple of ancient anchors that must be years old. Once I hooked the bottom off the red bouy of Coochie one night I almost got it up but had to cut the rope to let it go again as it was to big to fit in the boat.

Re: soooo, what have you found in the briny?
Finga, I have been using one as a bait board for a while, where did you lose it, name the spot and it is yours.
It remindes me that we did find a fair bit of gear last year at Fraser, a guy turned turtle at Waddy and a few days later found his bait board, a bloody big heavy thing that none of the others wanted and quite a few other items. On the day of the rollover we found on the beach heaps of fish they had caught, got them all together and gave them back, not sure how edible they would have been though.

My 2.5 year old pulled up a Shimano Estuary combo today while fishing down the pin. He is very happy about his new 'Big Rod'. A few small barnacles and the reel still turns!
